What is Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP)?
The monthly count of US jobs added outside farming, released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, usually on the first Friday of the month at 8:30 AM ET, together with the unemployment rate and average hourly earnings.
Why it moves markets
It is the clearest read on US labor demand, so it moves Fed rate expectations. A strong print usually lifts Treasury yields and the dollar, pressures gold and growth stocks, and can hit crypto; a weak print tends to do the opposite.
